The Quiet Signs of Burnout
Burnout does not always arrive all at once. Learn to notice the signals your body and mind may be sending.

It rarely starts with a crash
We often picture burnout as a dramatic breaking point. In reality, it tends to build quietly. You might feel flat on Sunday evenings, need more caffeine to start the day, or notice that things you used to enjoy now feel like another task on the list.
Signals worth noticing
Common early signs include ongoing tiredness that sleep does not fix, irritability, difficulty concentrating, and a growing sense of distance from your work or the people around you. None of these mean you have failed. They are information.
Rest alone may not be enough
A long weekend can help, but burnout is often linked to patterns rather than a single busy week. It can be useful to look at workload, expectations, boundaries, and the stories you tell yourself about what you should be able to handle.
A small practice to try
At the end of each day this week, note one thing that drained your energy and one thing that restored it, however small. After a few days, patterns usually begin to appear, and those patterns point toward changes worth making.
A closing thought
Recognising burnout early is an act of self-respect. If you are noticing these signs, you deserve support in finding a rhythm that feels more sustainable.
